El món neix en cada besada, Photographic mosaic in Gothic Quarter, Spain.
El món neix en cada besada is a ceramic mosaic in the Gothic Quarter composed of thousands of photographs arranged to form an image of two people kissing. The work measures 8 meters wide and 3.8 meters high, with each ceramic tile containing an individual photograph.
The mosaic was created in 2014 to mark the 300th anniversary of Barcelona's siege. It came together through a public call inviting residents to submit personal photographs that captured moments of freedom and community life.
The mural features a quote by Oliver Wendell Holmes about kisses and cannons, reflecting on the lasting impact of love versus conflict.
The mural is located at Plaça d'Isidre Nonell in the Gothic Quarter and is easy to find. Nearby metro stations provide convenient access, and the site is simple to reach on foot once you arrive in the area.
The artwork features photographs submitted by residents through an Instagram campaign, creating a collective narrative of personal moments. This participatory approach transformed private images into a shared public composition.
