Torre Castañer

Torre Castañer is a neoclassical residential building in Sant Gervasi-la Bonanova featuring three symmetrical sections with a taller central body crowned by a semicircular pediment. The top is decorated with classical sculptural details that complement the neoclassical style.

The house was built as a residential mansion in the 19th-century neoclassical style as part of Barcelona's expansion into wealthier neighborhoods. During the Spanish Civil War period, it provided shelter for notable intellectuals and cultural figures.

The building reflects 19th-century romantic palace design through its grand entrance portico, extensive gardens, and decorated wrought iron gate featuring heraldic symbols. These features show the wealth and taste that residents wanted to display.

The building stands at Passeig Sant Gervasi 10 and is a private residential property visible from the street. Visitors can appreciate the facade and exterior gate from outside, though the interior is not accessible to the public.

A neo-Arab pavilion built in 1888 stands at the edge of the estate, now separated from the main garden area. This orientalist structure is a rare remnant from a time when such exotic styles appealed to wealthy residents.
