Aratikos

Aratikos is an archaeological site on a hilltop where remains of a Celtiberian settlement from the Iron Age are visible. The location displays building foundations, pottery fragments, and metal objects that tell of ancient habitation.

The settlement emerged in the pre-Roman Iron Age as an economic hub in the region. It became known for coin production, which underscores its importance as a trading center.

The ruins reveal how Celtiberians constructed their homes and organized daily life through visible stone foundations and scattered household objects. These remains show the way people lived and worked in this highland settlement thousands of years ago.

A visit requires sturdy footwear because of the uneven and rocky terrain on the hilltop. The paths are not marked, so it helps to learn about access routes beforehand.

Tools and casting molds for coin production were discovered here, showing how coins were made over 2000 years ago. These rare finds give insight into the craftsmanship techniques of the Celtiberians.
