Château de Becheville

Château de Becheville is a 19th century castle in Les Mureaux built with stone and brick walls, slate roofing, and varied window types including dormer windows and circular openings. The building contains rooms with high ceilings throughout its interior, providing generous spaces for different uses.

Count Pierre Daru, a minister under Napoleon I, purchased the estate in 1811 and shaped its early history. Later, writer Stendhal visited and referenced it in his literary works.

The wooden panels on the walls display Roman head motifs and floral patterns that reflect the tastes of wealthy residents from the 1800s. Walking through the rooms, you notice Empire-style furniture and mirrors that show the refined lifestyle of those who lived here.

The castle has served as a music conservatory since 1977, offering music education and hosting art exhibitions in its spacious halls. The high-ceilinged rooms create an open, generous environment for exploring the interior.

The castle holds a restored oil painting from 1734 by François Boucher titled L'Automne or Le Repos après la chasse. This work reveals the artistic interests of those who once owned the estate and their refined taste in collecting.
