Château de Thubœuf, castelo em França
The Château de Thubœuf is a manor house in Nuillé-sur-Vicoin that developed over multiple periods and underwent several modifications. The oldest structures include a defensive mound, while a new residence was built around 1683 with a kitchen, main hall, and two bedrooms.
The estate dates back to the 11th century when the Thubœuf family took over the land and held it for many generations. In the 17th century, around 1683, a new dwelling was constructed when Renée de Chantepie commissioned a master mason from Laval to make improvements.
The name comes from the Thubœuf family, who owned and shaped the estate from the 11th century onward. The building served as a symbol of local authority and remained a reference point for the people of the village across generations.
The castle is not open to the public for regular visits but can be seen from the outside during a walk through the village. Visitors should respect the private nature of the property and not enter without permission.
Local legends speak of a hidden treasure that a former owner supposedly concealed in one of the towers. Although many have speculated that valuables might be hidden there, no such cache has ever been found.
