Palacio de Sotofermoso, Renaissance palace in Abadía, Spain
The palace features a square layout with a Mudéjar courtyard containing double galleries of five arches on each side, displaying the Alba family coat of arms.
Originally constructed as a Templar fortress in the 13th century, the building transformed into a Cistercian abbey before becoming the residence of the House of Alba.
The palace gardens attracted renowned poets like Garcilaso de la Vega and Lope de Vega, who found inspiration in its Renaissance-style surroundings.
The palace opens to visitors free of charge from Monday to Sunday between 10:00 and 19:00, offering access to its architectural elements and historical spaces.
The marble statue of Andromeda remains as one of the few surviving elements of the once extensive Renaissance gardens that surrounded the palace.
