Dallas Dhu distillery, Whisky distillery in Forres, Scotland
Dallas Dhu is a whisky distillery in Forres with stone buildings arranged to show the complete production process from grain to spirit. The site includes a two-story malt barn, a kiln for drying grain, fermentation vessels called washbacks, and a still house where the spirit was produced.
Alexander Edward founded the distillery in 1898 to produce whisky that was used in blended varieties under the Roderick Dhu name. Production stopped in 1983 and the site was preserved in its working condition.
This place tells the story of Scottish whisky production through its working buildings and equipment, showing how people transformed barley into spirit. The layout reveals the daily rhythm of distillery workers and their tasks from grain to barrel.
Audio guides and videos help visitors follow the whisky-making process through each building on the site. The grounds are accessible for people with limited mobility and parking is available nearby.
All the equipment and machinery remain exactly as workers left them on the final day of production in 1983. This frozen moment allows visitors to see a working distillery in its original state, unchanged and complete.
