Urbis, Exhibition building in Manchester, United Kingdom
The Urbis building features six floors with sloping facades covered by 2,200 glass panes arranged in horizontal strips across its exterior surface.
Manchester City Council invested in the Urbis building's construction, which opened in 2002 as part of the Exchange Square redevelopment project.
From 2002 to 2010, the building housed exhibitions about urban living, art, music, fashion, and photography before becoming the National Football Museum.
The building structure includes energy-saving features such as an adiabatic cooling system for summer and a heat recovery system for winter months.
Visitors initially accessed exhibits from the top floor, descending through cascading mezzanine levels that created a sequential exhibition experience.
