Wheel of Manchester, Ferris wheel in Exchange Square, Manchester, England
The Wheel of Manchester is a ferris wheel located in Exchange Square that lifted visitors in enclosed capsules to around 60 meters high. Each rotation took approximately 13 minutes and provided views across the city during its slow movement.
An initial observation wheel arrived at Exchange Square in 2004, which was later replaced by a larger version installed in 2007 at the same site. The newer structure was sponsored by the Manchester Evening News.
The wheel served as a social gathering point in the city center where locals and tourists alike came to experience the city from a different vantage point. It became part of Manchester's identity as a modern entertainment destination.
The wheel operated from 10 AM to 9 PM Sunday through Thursday, with extended hours until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays. Visiting on a clear day in early afternoon provides the best views of the surrounding area.
A special VIP capsule offered an exclusive experience with premium amenities, including the option to include champagne service during the ride. This upscale offering made the wheel a destination for special occasions.
