Sgùrr MhicChoinnich, Mountain summit in Black Cuillin range, Isle of Skye, Scotland
The 948-meter peak displays steep cliffs of gabbro rock formations, creating a stark landscape with minimal vegetation covering its surface.
The mountain received its name in honor of John MacKenzie, a guide who led the first documented ascent with three climbers in 1887.
The mountain serves as a testing ground for skilled mountaineers, requiring technical scrambling abilities and advanced navigation knowledge through its complex terrain.
Climbers access the summit via An Stac scree slopes from Coire Lagan, leading to a bealach between Sgurr MhicChoinnich and Sgurr Dearg.
The mountain features Collie's Ledge, a narrow terrace that provides a Grade 2 scrambling route for climbers traversing the Cuillin ridge system.
