Sgùrr nan Gillean, Mountain summit in Isle of Skye, Scotland
The triangular peak of Sgùrr nan Gillean rises to 964 meters, forming one of eleven Munros within the northern Cuillin mountain range of Skye.
Duncan Macintyre and James Forbes completed the first documented ascent of Sgùrr nan Gillean on July 7, 1836, establishing initial routes to the summit.
The Southeast Ridge path represents the standard climbing route, requiring careful navigation through steep sections and loose rocks toward the mountain peak.
Access to Sgùrr nan Gillean starts at Sligachan Hotel, where regular bus services connect from Portree, Broadford, and Kyleakin throughout the day.
The mountain features three distinct ridges, with only the Southeast Ridge suitable for scramblers while the West and North ridges demand technical climbing skills.
