Burford Bridge Hotel

The Burford Bridge Hotel is a Grade II listed building positioned at the base of Box Hill along Old London Road. It contains around 57 rooms, a heated outdoor swimming pool, and gardens that surround the historic property.

The building originated in 1254 as an inn called the Fox and Hounds and retains sections from the 16th century. Later, a medieval barn was moved from Abinger Hammer and rebuilt as a banqueting suite in 1934.

The name refers to the historic crossing point over the River Mole that once defined this location. Today visitors can sense how the bridge shaped the building's importance as a stopping point on the old London route.

The hotel sits directly beside the historic London road, making the surrounding area easy to explore on foot. Modern rooms feature air conditioning, and the heated pool operates during the summer months from July through September.

A medieval tithe barn was transported from another location and rebuilt here in the 1930s to serve as a banqueting hall. This unusual relocation and adaptive reuse of the old structure reflect the creative approach to hotel development during that era.
