Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity, Brighton, Greek Revival church in Brighton, England.
The Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity is a Greek Revival building located on Woodruff Avenue in Hove. Its rendered facade features a deep central recess flanked by two wings and stone pilasters that define its architectural character.
Built in 1838 as an Anglican church dedicated to St John the Evangelist, the building served that community for over a century. It was closed in 1980 and purchased by Brighton's Greek Orthodox community in 1985 for their own use.
The church serves as a center for Brighton's Greek Orthodox community and their spiritual practices. Visitors can experience traditional liturgical services featuring Byzantine chant and iconography that reflect Eastern Christian worship.
The church is located on Woodruff Avenue in Hove and welcomes visitors to its services and grounds. Be aware that services follow the Orthodox calendar and visitors are expected to dress respectfully when attending.
A major fire in 2010 caused significant damage to the building, requiring temporary relocation of services to another nearby church. The incident led to careful restoration work that has since preserved the building's historical integrity.
