The bronze statue of King George IV stands 9 feet tall on a granite pedestal outside the North Gate of Pavilion Gardens.
Sculptor Francis Legatt Chantrey created this public monument in 1828 to replace an earlier damaged plaster statue made by Rossi in 1802.
The statue represents the strong connection between Brighton and King George IV, who transformed the town into a fashionable resort during his reign.
