Mareel

Mareel is a cultural center in Lerwick featuring two cinema screens, a recording studio, and rehearsal spaces for performances. The building includes an auditorium that accommodates up to 650 standing guests or 250 seated visitors.

The center opened in 2012 following construction that began in 2009, supported by Shetland Islands Council and European funding sources. It was developed to strengthen the creative industries sector across the islands.
