St John the Evangelist's Church, Cambridge

St John the Evangelist's Church is a Gothic Revival structure on Hills Road featuring pointed arches, steep roofs, and stone walls built in the late 1800s. The interior and exterior display the architectural details typical of that period, with tall windows and careful stonework throughout.

Construction of this church began in 1892 as an extension of the St Andrew's Cherry Hinton parish and was completed five years later. Before the new building was ready, worshippers gathered in Homerton College chapel for their services.

The congregation shapes the neighborhood through regular services and musical performances that draw visitors at different times of the week. The Anglican musical tradition remains active in the weekly gatherings of worshippers.

The building features powered entry doors, accessible restrooms, and a small parking lot with additional free street parking available on Sundays. The site is easy to reach with accessible routes, and different times of day work well for different types of visits.

A former reverend and his wife donated the pulpit as a gift marking their silver wedding anniversary during the construction phase of the building. This personal memorial from the founding years remains part of the church today.
