St Kentigern's Church, Caldbeck, Grade I listed parish church in Caldbeck, England.
St Kentigern's Church is a sandstone parish church featuring a limestone tower topped with a battlemented parapet and a roof of green slate. The building has a six-bay nave, north and south aisles, and contains original medieval features such as a 14th-century hexagonal font and 13th-century piscina.
The church was originally built around 1150 in the Norman style. In the early 1500s, John Whelpdale undertook major renovations, including work on the chancel and the addition of a chantry chapel.
The church serves as the spiritual center of Caldbeck, where locals gather for services, weddings, and baptisms throughout the year. Visitors notice how the community cares for the building and uses it for various celebrations and occasions.
The church is easily accessible in the center of Caldbeck village. Since this is an active place of worship, visitors should plan to explore outside of service times for the best experience.
The upper section of the tower was added in 1727 and still displays an inscription marking that year. This later addition contrasts visually with the much older medieval structure below it.
