The Howk Bobbin Mill

The Howk Bobbin Mill is an archaeological site within a limestone gorge where the remains of a bobbin-producing factory stand. The ruins reveal how the cold water of the beck once powered the machinery used to manufacture textile components.

The mill emerged during Britain's textile boom when small manufacturing sites dotted rural areas to serve the industry. As production methods changed and mechanisation evolved, the facility eventually fell into disuse and was abandoned.
