St Michael's Church, Basingstoke, Gothic church in Basingstoke, England

St Michael's Church features a double-aisled structure with a west tower and two chapels flanking the chancel, built with flint and rubble materials.

The church construction began in 1350, with significant modifications during the 16th century, including the addition of the south porch in 1539.

The interior houses a wooden triptych from 1549 by Jan Sanders van Hemessen, donated by vicar James Millard during the 1870s.

Located at Church Street in central Basingstoke, the church maintains regular services and hosts weekly activities for families and children.

Thomas Hardy mentioned this church in his novel 'Jude the Obscure', describing the structure's stark appearance in the town landscape.
