Basingstoke and Deane

Basingstoke and Deane is an administrative borough in Hampshire that spans across the western edge of the North Downs. The district includes the towns of Basingstoke, Tadley, and Whitchurch along with numerous rural villages scattered throughout its territory.

The district was established in 1974 under the Local Government Act and received its current name in 1978 when granted borough status. This reorganization brought urban and rural areas under a single administration.
