The Scoop, Outdoor amphitheatre near Tower Bridge in London, United Kingdom
The Scoop is an outdoor amphitheatre on the south bank of the Thames, sitting right next to Tower Bridge in London. The sunken, tiered seating area holds around 800 people and is open to the sky on all sides.
The Scoop was designed by Townshend Landscape Architects and opened in 2002. It was built as part of the wider development of the More London estate on the south bank of the Thames.
The venue hosts the London Bridge City Summer Festival from June to August, where films, live music, and theatre shows draw visitors throughout the summer season.
The site is open year-round and most events are free to attend. It is worth arriving early since there is no reserved seating and the best spots fill up fast.
A large stainless steel tube made by A. Fisher Manufacturing is built into the structure and acts as a defining visual element of the design. This makes it one of the very few ticketless open-air performance spaces in central London.
