Meffan Institute, Art museum and local history center in Forfar, Scotland
The Meffan Institute contains two exhibition galleries displaying works from local and international artists alongside permanent historical collections and Pictish stones.
The museum opened in 1898 through funding from Jane Meffan to commemorate her father William, a former Provost of Forfar.
The museum features a reconstructed cobbled street called The Vennel with period shops, including a sweet shop and workshops representing 19th-century life.
Located at 20 West High Street, the museum opens Wednesday through Monday from April to October, and Friday through Monday during winter months.
Visitors can examine the Goosecroft log boat from 1090 AD and artifacts related to the Forfar witch trials of 1661-1666.
