Umberslade Baptist Church, Gothic Revival church in Tanworth-in-Arden, England.
Umberslade Baptist Church is a Gothic Revival building constructed from blue lias stone with limestone trim located in a rural English village. Inside sits a two-manual organ from 1878 and a Gothic-style pulpit, with the tall tower outside crowned by an octagonal spire.
The church was built in 1877 by architect George Ingall for patron George Frederick Muntz Junior during a period of revived Gothic taste. The building gained Grade II* listed status in 2014, confirming its importance to the local heritage landscape.
The church retains its original wooden furnishings and decorative floor tiles arranged in Gothic patterns throughout the interior. The crafted details like carved woodwork and colored glass windows shape how visitors experience the sacred space inside.
The church opens its doors for scheduled events and special visits organized by local committees rather than on a set daily schedule. Check ahead for current visiting times since the building is not open to walk-ins on a regular basis.
Eight chiming bells from 1878, cast by the English foundry Gillett & Bland, hang in the tower and are designed to ring together harmoniously. These bells require electrical power to operate and cannot function by the traditional bell-ringing method.
