Polmadie Bridge

Polmadie Bridge is a modern footbridge that spans across the River Clyde, connecting the residential area of Oatlands with Glasgow Green. The structure features steel and concrete construction along with integrated deck lighting and accessible ramps for all users.

A wooden bridge originally stood at this location from 1901, later replaced by a concrete structure in 1955. The current bridge was completed in 2018, incorporating the existing concrete support piers from the earlier structure.

The bridge serves as a daily route for residents moving between neighborhoods and represents a practical link that people rely on for their routines. It connects areas that would otherwise require significant detours.

The bridge features ramps and integrated lighting, making it straightforward to access and safe to use at any time. It functions as part of established pedestrian routes in the area.

The 2018 bridge intentionally preserves the concrete support piers from the 1955 structure, integrating the older pillars into the modern design. This demonstrates how past and present infrastructure can work together.
