The Polmadie Bridge spans 103 meters across the River Clyde, connecting the residential area of Oatlands with Glasgow Green through steel and concrete construction.
The first wooden bridge at this location opened in 1901, followed by a concrete structure in 1955, while the current bridge was completed in August 2018.
The bridge restoration project emerged from local community advocacy, demonstrating the residents' commitment to maintaining connections between Glasgow neighborhoods.
Integrated deck lighting and accessible ramps make the bridge suitable for pedestrians and cyclists at all hours, forming part of Routes 75 and 756.
The modern structure retains the original concrete support piers from 1955, incorporating them into the new design that cost 1.8 million pounds.
