Andrew Carnegie provided £3,000 for the construction of Selly Oak Library, which opened its doors to the public on June 23, 1906.

The library functioned as a central educational resource for Birmingham residents until 2017, offering books, newspapers, and community gathering spaces.

Located near major transportation routes, the Grade II listed building requires restoration work before it can resume public services.

The building contains original glazed screens and a preserved reading room with an issue desk specifically designed for newspaper distribution.
