Sessions House, Grade II* listed building in Usk, Wales.
Sessions House is a courthouse building with neoclassical architecture located in Usk, Wales. The facade combines local sandstone with Bath stone accents, divided into seven sections marked by Tuscan pilasters.
Construction took place between 1875 and 1877 under architect Thomas Henry Wyatt. The building served as a courthouse until 1995, when the final court session occurred in Court Two.
The building houses a significant legal library with historical law collections. These spaces reflect how knowledge and documentation were central to the work of justice.
The building now serves as a venue for weddings and community gatherings on Maryport Street. You can visit the spaces when private events are not taking place.
Inside sits one of the few surviving authentic Victorian courtrooms in the United Kingdom. Original furnishings including judges' benches and historical inscriptions remain intact from that era.
