Stratford Butterfly Farm

Stratford Butterfly Farm is a greenhouse where hundreds of butterfly species from around the world fly freely among waterfalls and tropical ponds. The landscaped indoor space recreates tropical conditions so visitors can walk through and observe the creatures in a naturalistic setting.

The farm opened in 1985 as one of Britain's first major butterfly exhibitions, pioneering indoor tropical environments for public viewing. Since then it has become a long-standing attraction in the town.

The facility maintains educational programs about butterfly life cycles, conservation methods, and tropical ecosystems through interactive displays and guided presentations.

The site includes Arachnoland, a section dedicated to large spider species and a colony of scorpions alongside the butterfly collection. This addition of other arthropods provides insight into a wider range of tropical creatures than butterflies alone.
