Invermark Castle, Tower house in Angus, Scotland

The stone fortress rises three stories with rounded corners, massive chimney stacks, and window openings positioned to illuminate the garret level.

The Lindsay family constructed this tower around 1526, expanding upon an existing 14th-century structure meant to protect against Highland raiders.

The castle served as a stronghold for David Lindsay in 1607 following his involvement in the death of Lord Spynie in Edinburgh.

The entrance sits at first floor level, where visitors would have accessed the main hall through an iron-barred gateway called a yett.

Materials from the abandoned castle were repurposed in the 19th century to construct the nearby Lochlee Parish Church and its manse.
