Seacliff

Seacliff is a private estate situated along the North Sea coast, extending across the shoreline with sandy beaches, rocky outcrops, and direct views toward Bass Rock. The property is accessed via a private road from the A198, with designated parking areas positioned near the beach.

The original Seacliff House was built in 1750 and underwent major reconstruction in 1841 after standing for over 90 years. During World War I, the property served as a military base for naval research.

Saint Baldred left his mark on this coastal area long ago, visible in the stone beacon and cave that bear his name. The connection to early Christian times remains felt throughout the location.

The estate is accessed through a private road with a gate, and an entrance fee is required. It is worth checking conditions before visiting, as opening times can vary seasonally.

The estate contains a small harbor carved directly into rock in 1890, measuring only a few meters across, making it one of Scotland's smallest ports. This crafted feat shows the ingenuity of early harbor builders who accommodated vessels using minimal resources.
