Royal Victoria Country Park

Royal Victoria Country Park is a listed park on the grounds of a former military hospital, featuring woodlands, grasslands, and water views toward the Solent. The site spreads across several hundred acres with different landscape zones and space for various outdoor activities.

The site once housed a military hospital that cared for soldiers returning from the Crimean War and became a center for military medicine. The land later became public parkland while keeping some historic buildings as reminders of that era.

The remaining chapel and scattered buildings tell the story of how Victorians cared for wounded soldiers and show what military medicine looked like back then.

The park offers various facilities including restrooms, cafes, play areas, and sports fields for different visitors. The paths are mostly accessible, allowing people to explore different sections of the grounds.

A miniature railway line runs through the grounds, connecting different areas and offering visitors a different way to explore the park. This small train is a popular feature, especially for families wanting to see the landscape from an unusual angle.
