Sts Thomas Minster, Medieval church in Newport, England

The stone church building rises from St Thomas Square with its square tower containing twelve bells and long rectangular windows along its walls.

Prince Albert laid the foundation stone in 1854 during the reconstruction of the church, which replaced an earlier structure dating from the 12th century.

The Corporation pews inside the church mark the traditional location where Newport Borough bailiffs were elected following the Royal Charter provisions.

Visitors can access the church through regular services, including Holy Communion and special seasonal celebrations throughout the religious calendar year.

The church holds the tomb of Princess Elizabeth, daughter of King Charles I, who died at Carisbrooke Castle in 1650 at age fifteen.
