All Saints Church

All Saints Church is a parish church in Gainsborough featuring Georgian classical architecture with refined proportions throughout. Two parallel rows of Corinthian columns separate the nave from the side aisles, creating a sense of ordered space.

The church was built between 1736 and 1744 on the foundations of an earlier medieval structure. The original 14th-century tower designed by Francis Smith remains standing and continues to anchor the building's composition.

The interior displays a reproduction of Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper above the altar and contains stained glass windows created by Burne-Jones. These artistic elements reflect the refined taste of 18th-century patrons who commissioned this church.

The church is generally open during daytime hours, with regular worship services held throughout the week. Visitors should check ahead for specific opening times since the building is actively used for ceremonies and private events.

The west end vestry has been converted into a café and gift shop that serves both visitors and parishioners. This practical reuse shows how historic buildings adapt to serve contemporary community needs.
