Earlston Castle, Tower house in Dalry, Scotland.

The L-shaped stone structure rises three stories with an attic, featuring a main block and a stair wing built from greywacke rubble with sandstone details.

The estate belonged to Sir John Sinclair of Herdmanston in 1472 before passing to the Gordons in 1601, who expanded the castle with Renaissance elements.

The castle gained recognition through S.R. Crockett's 1895 novel 'Men of the Moss Hags', which narrates the story of the Gordon family.

The main entrance leads to a lobby connecting two barrel-vaulted cellars and a turnpike stair accessing the upper levels of the building.

The castle lacks typical defensive features of its era, with no gun loops, protective turrets, or parapets, making it an unusual example of 16th-century architecture.
