Corserine

Corserine is an 814-meter mountain in the Galloway Hills marked by five ridges that converge at its summit. The slopes are steep and expose rock formations near the peak, making the terrain challenging.

The mountain was shaped by the last ice age, which left deep valleys and sharp ridges across the Galloway region. Glacial activity thousands of years ago created the landscape we see today.

The surrounding Galloway Forest Park maintains Dark Sky Preserve status, enabling clear views of constellations and astronomical phenomena throughout the year.

Reach Forrest Lodge by car, the main starting point for the ascent using forest tracks and grassy paths. The route demands good footing and proper preparation for changing mountain weather.

The mountain sits at the junction of five distinct ridge chains stretching 13 kilometers, each offering different ascent routes. These multiple access options make it a flexible destination for hikers of varying skill levels.
