An English exile named Saint Berechert established a monastery at this location during the seventh century, later replaced by an Augustinian monastery.
The site holds an eighth-century inscribed cross slab with text requesting prayers for Saint Berechert, showing connections to Lindisfarne artistic styles.
Visitors can find the church ruins 4.4 kilometers southwest of Dromcolliher, with access to both the building remains and surrounding cemetery.
The gravestone inscription shares artistic elements with the Book of Lindisfarne and the Ardagh Chalice, found fifteen miles northwest of the site.
