Castle Harrison, Great house near Ballyhea and Charleville, Ireland.

Castle Harrison was a substantial great house located near Ballyhea and Charleville in North County Cork. The estate occupied extensive grounds that sprawled across the countryside in this part of southern Ireland.

The property was originally held by the Fitzgerald family before passing to Standish Harrison by 1837. The residence remained in the Harrison family ownership until 1956, when it was sold to the Irish Land Commission and subsequently demolished.

The Harrison family maintained detailed genealogical records tracing their lineage back to Richard, Lord Harrisson, who arrived in England in 1056.

The site can only be explored through historical records and maps today, as the building no longer exists. Visitors interested in this estate and its history can find information in local archives and libraries in the Ballyhea area.

During railway construction near the estate, workers discovered numerous historical artifacts that revealed details about early settlement patterns in the area. These finds helped archaeologists better understand how people had lived in this region over time.
