Ranibennur Blackbuck Sanctuary, Protected wildlife sanctuary in Haveri District, Karnataka, India
The Ranibennur Blackbuck Sanctuary spans 119 square kilometers, featuring eucalyptus plantations, scrub forests, and open grasslands across eastern and western segments.
The sanctuary received official protection status in 1974, transforming from an area of native Acacia trees into a managed reserve with eucalyptus plantations.
Local conservation efforts focus on protecting the blackbuck population, which has increased to 6000 individuals through dedicated wildlife management programs.
Visitors can access 104 kilometers of the sanctuary daily from 6 AM to 6 PM, with entry fees ranging from 50 rupees for adults to 300 rupees for international guests.
The sanctuary supports diverse wildlife including wolves, pangolins, mongooses, and numerous bird species within its carefully maintained ecosystem.
