Chiesa del Santissimo Crocifisso

The church features a Greek cross layout with three entrance doors, classical lower register with Doric pilasters, and Baroque upper section with Ionic columns.

Construction of the church began in 1664 under Bishop Alessandro Crescenzi, with architect Carlo Rosa and his students designing the building and creating interior frescoes.

The church contains multiple altars dedicated to various saints, including Saint Martin and Saint Philip Neri, with the main altar displaying the Deposition from the Cross.

Religious services are conducted at different times throughout the year, with winter masses at 19:00 on weekdays and multiple services on festive days.

The church stands on the site of an ancient shrine that contained a fresco of the Crucifixion, which people considered miraculous and adorned with numerous votive offerings.
