Castel Malgolo

Castel Malgolo is a castle set among apple orchards and forest in the Val di Non, Trentino, with angular towers and windows from different periods. The structure remains a private residence accessible only from the outside.

The original structure began in 1342 as a single tower, then the Lords of Coredo transformed it into a fortified dwelling. Major restoration work between 1891 and 1914 under Baron Raffaele de Concini reshaped the entire complex.

The castle carries the name of a noble family that governed the region, and its architecture reflects the power structures of medieval mountain valleys. Walking around it gives a sense of how such residences marked territorial influence in the area.

The castle is located on al Castello street in Romeno and can be observed from public roads. Since it is a private residence, visitors should remain on public paths and respect the boundaries of the property.

The castle's windows come from different building phases and show the shift from defensive architecture to comfortable living. Close observation reveals how window styles changed over time, marking different eras of occupation.
