Inside stands an 18th-century majolica floor, an oratory with painted walls, and an adjacent cloister with fragmented wall frescoes from the same period.
The site was founded in 1290 as a chapel and held religious significance for Naples over many centuries. In 1485, it closed under King Ferrante I after members of the confraternity participated in a conspiracy against the crown.
The name refers to a confraternity devoted to the veneration of the cross, established by wealthy Naples citizens for charitable works. Visitors today can observe how this place shaped the spiritual practices and community bonds of the local population over centuries.
