Construction of Santa Maria Mediatrice began in 1942 and completed in 1950 under the direction of architect Giovanni Muzio during World War II.
The church contains mosaics by Giorgio Quaroni depicting the Virgin on a throne among saints, angels and prophets in the central dome.
The church includes multiple altars surrounding an ambulatory, allowing priests to hold private mass celebrations throughout the structure.
The interior space divides into two halls separated by a triumphal arch made of Apuan onyx, with an octagonal nave and a rectangular choir.
