Church of Santa Sofia, Lendinara

The Church of Santa Sofia sits in central Lendinara and features a prominent bell tower designed by Francesco Antonio Baccari between 1797 and 1857. The interior displays frescoes created in 1796 in the apse that represent the Transfiguration.

The church originated in 1792 and underwent significant transformations afterward, including the gradual construction of its distinctive tower over several decades. Artistic works such as painted decorations were added to develop the religious interior further.

The main altarpiece depicts the Martyrdom of Santa Sofia and her daughters through a painting by Carlo Alvise Fabris from 1793. These religious narratives become visible as visitors move through the interior space.

The building remains open for regular religious services and welcomes visitors who wish to explore the architecture and religious artworks on display. The best time to visit is outside of service hours in order to view the interior spaces quietly.

The sacristy houses a scale model of the bell tower alongside historical paintings by various artists. This collection offers insight into the craftsmanship and artistic contributions that shaped the building.
