Monte Misma, Mountain summit in Lombardy, Italy.
Monte Misma is a mountain summit in Lombardy, rising between Valle Seriana to the north and Val Cavallina to the south, reaching about 3,800 feet (1,160 meters). The upper slopes are mostly forested, with patches of open ground near the top that open up the view in several directions.
For centuries, Monte Misma served as a crossing point on old trade routes linking Valle Seriana and Val Cavallina. The paths over the mountain were regularly used by merchants and farmers moving between the two valleys.
A small chapel stands at the top of Monte Misma, visited by hikers who reach the summit after the climb. Roadside and hilltop shrines like this one are a common sight in Lombardy and show how closely mountain life and local devotion have always been connected.
Marked hiking trails lead to the summit from several villages in the surrounding valleys, with options for different fitness levels. Footwear with good grip is recommended, as conditions on the upper slopes can change quickly depending on the season.
Monte Misma looks quite different depending on which valley you approach it from, with a sharper profile visible from Valle Seriana and a more rounded outline from Val Cavallina. This contrast has given the mountain two different local nicknames over the years.
