Madonna delle Nevi

Madonna delle Nevi is a mountain sanctuary in Pradalunga with stone walls, a bell tower built in 1959, and a single nave divided into three barrel-vaulted bays. The interior space is defined by this distinctive ceiling structure that creates a simple religious atmosphere.

Local miners built this sanctuary as a vow after the plague epidemic of 1630, following reported sightings of the Virgin Mary near their stone quarry operations. The structure arose from the gratitude and hope of the community during that difficult time.

The sanctuary houses votive offerings left by believers over generations to fulfill religious promises. These donations reflect how the community expressed their faith and gratitude at this place of prayer.

A paved road now allows visitors to drive by car from the center of Pradalunga up to the sanctuary. Clear signage and road conditions make the journey straightforward and accessible for most travelers.

The presbytery area features frescoes depicting the Visitation of Elizabeth and the Nativity, framed by geometric decorations on the walls. These paintings create a visual focal point within the otherwise simple interior of the sanctuary.
