This museum in Santo Spirito Hospital displays medical instruments, anatomical preparations, and pharmaceutical equipment across nine exhibition rooms. The collections span from simple tools to complex devices used across different branches of medicine over several centuries.

The museum was established following an international retrospective exhibition in 1911 and opened in 1933 within a dedicated hospital wing. Its creation reflected the growing interest in documenting and preserving the history of medical progress.

The Alessandrina Room contains hand-colored anatomical prints from the early 1800s that reflect how medical knowledge was illustrated and shared during that period. You can see how artists and doctors worked together to create these detailed educational materials.

The museum houses an extensive library with publications from the 16th to 20th centuries, including rare medical texts and classic scientific works. Visitors can explore these collections to gain deeper insights into historical medical literature and research.

A reconstructed 17th-century pharmacy displays original tools and containers that were used in Roman hospitals. An adjacent area shows alchemical practices and methods from that era with period equipment.
