Oasi del Bassone-Torbiera di Albate

The reserve encompasses 90 hectares of wetlands, meadows, and deciduous forests, creating a crescent-shaped depression around a moraine hill.

Established in 1974, the World Wildlife Fund manages this protected area that formed from ancient peat extraction activities creating ponds and small lakes.

The reserve functions as an environmental education center where specialists conduct research on local flora and fauna species throughout the year.

Visitors can access observation huts and nature trails from Cascina Bengasi entrance, located 6 kilometers from Como city center.

The wetland collects water from multiple streams in Como Province, with Rio Acquanegra serving as the only outflow channel to the Seveso River.
