Palazzo dell'ex Arsenale

Palazzo dell'ex Arsenale is a large military building in Turin that occupies an entire city block in a classical square layout. The interior contains underground spaces, capacious halls designed to support heavy loads, extensive porticoes on the ground floor, and a library on the first floor.

Construction began in 1736 under military architect De Vincenti, who incorporated design ideas from Filippo Juvarra. The project extended over more than a century with continuous modifications and expansions that shaped the building.

The palace now houses the Italian Army's officer training school, and visitors can sense its role as a center for professional military education. Its spaces remain actively used for courses and institutional gatherings, keeping its military purpose alive and visible in daily operations.

The building is located at Via Arsenale 22 in central Turin and is easily accessible by public transportation. The extensive ground floor porticoes provide a clear starting point for orientation, and the restored rooms are straightforward to navigate.

This palace is the only surviving structure from the former Royal Arsenal complex that once dominated the area. Inside, it houses a research center dedicated to post-conflict operations, reflecting its continued role in military studies.
