Duomo di Santa Maria Assunta e San Nicolò Vescovo

The Duomo di Santa Maria Assunta e San Nicolò Vescovo is a basilica in Montalbano Elicona reached by a broad staircase that leads up to its facade. Inside, a central nave features wooden ceiling trusses decorated with stucco and rosette patterns.

The church was originally built in the 11th century as a single-nave structure dedicated to Saint Peter and Saint Paul. A major renovation and expansion took place in 1646.
