Ogama Falls, Natural waterfall in Tokushima Prefecture, Japan
Ogama Falls drops approximately 20 meters over natural rock formations, creating a wide flow of blue-green water. The water pools at the base in a calm basin surrounded by moss-covered stone and vegetation.
The falls served as an important landmark in the region long before modern tourism arrived. Over centuries, travelers and local fishermen valued the area for its water resources and natural features.
The name comes from the sparkling water droplets that catch sunlight throughout the day. Local families visit during warmer months when water volume peaks and creates a more dramatic sight.
You reach it by walking a paved forest trail that takes roughly an hour to complete. Wear comfortable shoes and bring water, as the path has a gentle incline and limited rest spots.
A wooden viewing bridge spans across the valley, giving photographers a vantage point to capture the water against the rock face. On clear days, you can also see the surrounding forest landscape stretching beyond.
