Sacred Heart Cathedral

The Sacred Heart Cathedral is a Gothic Revival church featuring soaring stone walls, pointed arches, and stained glass windows that tell religious stories throughout its interior. The building displays craftsmanship and architectural details that reflect European design traditions.

A church first built in 1862 was completely reconstructed in 1906 with two bell towers added to the design. The Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923 caused severe damage, leading to another major rebuilding effort.
